Our third day in Bali we decided to do a bit of sightseeing. We had basically spent the previous two days relaxing pool or beach-side (hey, we were on vacation!) and were looking forward to doing something a little more physical. So we hired a driver for the afternoon and took off, excited for what awaited us.
The drive over to the temples was spectacular, though thick traffic meant that the journey took way longer than it should have. Still, we were overjoyed to see our first rice paddy field on the way! Telling our driver to pull over, we immediately jumped out to snap some photos. So green, so lush!
Our next stop, the Tanah Lot temple, did not disappoint. I mean, take a look at these views!
We also had a good laugh while there: for some bizarre reason, the local people kept stopping Liebling to ask him to take a picture with them. We couldn’t figure out why, exactly, as there were many other tourists at the site who looked like him. Needless to say, I was shocked as I am the one who usually garners all of the attention. I almost felt a bit jealous!

@Nicole: Apparently they use a tractor to harvest it, then they dry it and remove the shell thingie protecting the grain of rice. Seems like a painstaking process!
