I think I mentioned before that the weather was terrible the whole time that we were in Istanbul. The grey skies and damp air made me want to snuggle under the covers in our comfortable hotel, but with limited time and tons of things left to see, Liebling and I set out on foot on our second morning with the intent of checking out the Galata Tower.
The Galata Tower is known as the Galata Kulesi in Turkish. It is a medieval stone tower that is one of Istanbul’s most popular attractions, as it provides a panoramic view of the city, the only one in the world to span both the European and Asian continents at once.
We left our hotel and Liebling navigated us past the Bosphorous and views of the Golden Horn. 
I was both amused and slightly appalled by the throngs of people who were fishing. I then remembered the abundance of market and food stands selling fresh fish.
We ascended a pretty cobble stone walkway and soon found ourselves at the entrance of the tower. It was busy with many other tourists.
After paying, we took a tiny elevator up to the top so that we could get a view over all of Istanbul. Despite the awful weather, the panorama was still impressive. The city is ridiculously large!
