Reunited with Liebling at the airport in Kuala Lumpur, Malayia and we flew to Denpasar, Bali.
Only been here about 24 hours, but so far Indonesia rocks!! A few quick updates/observations:
– It’s not as hot here as I thought it would be. This may be a blessing in disguise. It is hot, but not “in the depths of hell/Hades” hot. Case in point: Liebling was out in the sun all day and managed not to burn.
–Indonesians are a ridiculously kind and fun-loving bunch. The locals have been so nice and welcoming! It’s awesome!
–It’s not cheap here, but not expensive. Things cost more than Thailand, but are way cheaper than in Hong Kong. We are in the tourist area, Semenyak/Kuta, so maybe off the beaten track things will be cheaper. We had dinner today and it was 20 euros for the both of us to eat.
–The hotel we’re staying at is the bomb. Yummy welcome drink on arrival? Check. Maid service two times a day? Check. Banging breakfast buffet? Check. Great pool, grounds, and stretch of beach in front of said hotel? Check, check, check. Loves it.
–Black sand beaches are kind of awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever been on one until today. It’s great.
–Lazing around ain’t so bad after all. I’m not a beach girl (I can barely swim). But hanging out in a lounge chair for the better part of a day with a lemonade in one hand and the latest Jodi Piccoult book in the other kinda rocks.
–You gotta bargain shop. Bought a pair of leather gladiator shoes and got them for half the sticker price. I HATE bargaining but love a sweet deal.
–If not careful, one can get fat here. Breakfast was fab. As was dinner. I’ve been eating a ridiculous amount of bread and rice and drinking juice like it’s going out of style. Somebody stop me.
So we’re in Semenyiak and are taking a tour to see some temples (Tanah Lot and Ulu Watu) tomorrow. We are also going to a Monkey Forest. But not before lazing around the hotel pool some more in the morning.
Bali = WIN.

Hotel name chica!!!!! Sounds awesome….also send me the name of the shopping areas. Will only be there for about 4 days so need to fit it all in! Is that the Harvesting d Heart book!
I LOVE Bali! It's great, isn't it? I went there last year with my husband as our belated honeymoon. We stayed several days in Ubud (not far from the Monkey Forest) and several days in Seminyak. It was a hike from NYC but so worth it. We stayed at the Samaya in Seminyak and it's definitely one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Have a great time!
So awesome! I might have the chance to go there next year. Keeping my fingers crossed because it sounds like an awesome place!

It's fantastic!! Roasting on the beach at the moment! We are staying at the Royal Beach Seminyak Hotel. I highly recommend it!
